1. Your choice comes first

When you first arrive, a banner asks whether you accept optional cookies. Nothing other than strictly necessary storage is set until you choose. Choosing “Reject optional” leaves the site fully usable — you simply become invisible to our analytics.

2. Categories we use

Strictly necessary

Required for the site to function and to remember the choice you made in the cookie banner. These cannot be switched off and do not require consent. This includes a single local storage entry recording your consent decision, which persists until you clear it.

Analytics and performance

Set only with your consent. These tell us, in aggregate, which pages are read, how far people scroll, how long they stay and where visitors arrived from. We use this to decide what to write next and to spot broken pages. Typical lifespan is between 24 hours and 13 months.

Advertising and affiliate attribution

Set only with your consent. When you click a purchase button, the merchant's affiliate network may set a cookie so that a resulting sale is attributed to this site and commission is paid. These are set by the merchant's network on their own domain, and their duration is typically between 7 and 60 days. Rejecting optional cookies does not stop you buying anything, and does not change the price you pay.

Functional

Remember preferences such as dismissing a notice, so we do not show you the same message repeatedly. Generally expire within 12 months.

3. Similar technologies

Alongside cookies, sites can use local storage, session storage and tracking pixels. We use one local storage entry for your consent decision. Where an analytics or advertising provider uses a pixel, it is only loaded after you have accepted the relevant category.

4. Third parties

Some cookies are set by companies other than us — analytics providers, content delivery networks and affiliate networks. We do not control the cookies set on a merchant's own website once you click through; from that point, their cookie and privacy policies apply. We recommend reading them before you complete a purchase.

5. Changing or withdrawing consent

• On this site: clear this site's data in your browser and reload the page. The consent banner will reappear and you can choose again.
• By email: write to [email protected] and we will action your request.

Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that already happened lawfully.

6. Controlling cookies in your browser

Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies, usually under Settings → Privacy. Blocking all cookies may break parts of this and other websites. Guidance for your specific browser is available in its help pages, and the ICO publishes plain-English advice at ico.org.uk.

Most browsers also offer a private or incognito mode, which discards cookies when you close the window, and a “Do Not Track” signal. Support for Do Not Track is inconsistent across the industry, so we rely on your banner choice rather than that signal.

7. Legal basis

We set non-essential cookies on the basis of your consent, as required by the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 and the UK GDPR. Strictly necessary cookies are exempt from the consent requirement. Personal data derived from cookies is handled as described in our Privacy Policy.

8. Updates

We review this policy whenever our providers change and at least once a year. The revision date at the top of the page shows the current version. Where a change materially affects what we set, we will ask for your consent again.
